For the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Chief Darlene Bernard and Chief Junior Gould will join Premier King and Senator Francis to observe a moment of silence for reflection before lowering the flags at the provincial building. The event will also include an educational component to raise awareness and honour residential school survivors and their stories.
With the moment of silence that began last year, it is hoped that September 30 will become a day similar to Remembrance Day, where all Islanders take the time to reflect on the legacy of Residential Schools.
