Health

Program Description

Our Health Program is dedicated to improving the overall health and well-being of First Nations communities in Epekwitk (PEI). We focus on the effective and efficient delivery of clinical services, program development, education and awareness, holistic care, and health promotion.

We work collaboratively with First Nations to help build capacity within communities by improving access to health programs and services, increasing awareness of supports, and advocating for the health priorities of First Nations people.

Our program aims to:

  • Improve access to health programs and services for First Nation communities.
  • Empower Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq to manage their health and well-being.
  • Increase awareness of the health and wellness programs available in Epekwitk(PEI).
  • Strengthen capacity within First Nation communities to address unique health and safety concerns.
  • Advocate for the health and wellness needs of First Nations people and communities in PEI.
  • Foster collaboration with government organizations, non-governmental organizations, and Indigenous organizations.
  • Ensure the health and wellness needs of Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq are reflected in health policies, programs, and procedures.
