about the event
The Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI is thrilled to welcome trauma-informed staff from Atlantic Canada’s First Nations communities for an in-person gathering and wellness workshop: Apoqoma’tultinej.
The workshop will be held at the Aboriginal Heritage Gardens and facilitated by Glenda Wysote-Labillios. It will include activies such as:
- Blanket Exercises
- Sweats
- Healing Circles
- Traditional and Catered Meals
- Other Wellness Activities
Aoqoma’tultinej means “Let’s help each other” in Mi’kmaw. Glenda chose this name for the gathering because it reflects the purpose of the workshop; This three-day gathering is an opportunity for health care workers and staff who have completed the online training series, Integrating Indigenous Wisdom in Trauma-Informed Practice, to come together for connection, reflection and wellness.
It is a chance to pause, reconnect and refill your cup, ensuring that those who help care for our communities also have an opportunity to be supported and cared for.
