Indigenous Artisans Christmas Market Returns November 30

The Indigenous Artisans Christmas Market is returning to the Confederation Centre of the Arts on Saturday, November 30th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., as part of the Charlottetown Christmas Festival. This free, family-friendly event will feature over 50 talented Indigenous artisans from across Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island), offering a chance to explore Indigenous culture through art, craft, and storytelling.

“We’re excited to host the Indigenous Artisans Christmas Market again this year,” said Jamie Thomas, Board Chair of the Indigenous Tourism Association of PEI. “With over 50 artisans, this event highlights the diverse talents of our local Indigenous creators. We’re proud to share our culture and traditions, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”

Visitors will find a wide range of handcrafted items, including beaded jewelry, paintings, quillwork, handwoven baskets, ribbon skirts, holiday decorations, and more. This market also serves as an opportunity to meet the artisans and hear the stories behind their creations.

“The market is always such an inspiring event,” says Dana Wigmore, co-owner of Dana & Tess. “It’s a special chance to connect with others, share my creations, and learn from other artisans. I’m so grateful to be part of this meaningful event once again.”

The market is supported by the Government of Canada’s Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Innovation PEI and made possible with the help of the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI and Discover Charlottetown.

“The Indigenous Artisans Christmas Market is a wonderful platform for artists to showcase their work and share their culture,” said Kateri Coade, Executive Director of the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI. “It’s a valuable opportunity for visitors to learn about Mi’kmaq traditions and support local artisans. We’re proud to support this event and see it continue to thrive.”

The Indigenous Tourism Association of PEI invites everyone to experience this celebration of Indigenous culture, support local artists, and discover unique pieces that reflect the spirit of the Island’s Indigenous communities.
